Choose how many digits and press once. The page opens on 4 digits, 1,000 to 9,999, and never starts a number with 0 unless you allow it, so a 4 digit number always has four digits. Digits runs from 1 to 12.

How many numbers each length holds
4 digits run from 1,000 to 9,999: 9,000 numbers. 3 digits give 900, 5 digits 90,000, 6 digits 900,000 and 7 digits 9,000,000: each extra digit multiplies the count by ten. A first digit of 0 would make 0482 a three-digit number, so it is off unless you ask for it.
Worked example: 4,821
Under the result the page says the digits add up to 15, that no digit repeats, and reads it out: four thousand, eight hundred twenty-one. The 8 is in the hundreds place, so it is worth 800.
Tips
- For a code such as 0482, tick Allow a 0 at the front in More options and set Written to Plain: 0000 to 9999.
- Seven digits can be a real US or Canadian phone number. For fiction use the reserved block, 555-0100 to 555-0199.
- Not for PINs, passwords or door codes: the numbers come from your browser's everyday random source.
Questions and answers
How likely is it that all four digits are different?
About even. 4,536 of the 9,000 four-digit numbers have no repeated digit, 50.4%, and the line under each result names any digit that repeats. Numbers that read the same both ways, such as 4,884, are rarer: 90 exist, 1 draw in 100.
Can I get several numbers at once with no repeats?
Yes. Open More options and tap 20 numbers, no repeats, or set How many yourself, up to 1,000, and tick No repeats. Copy gives plain digits with commas between the numbers.
Can it give 4 random numbers instead of one 4-digit number?
Yes. Set How many to 4 and press the button: four numbers of whatever length Digits says. For numbers between your own lowest and highest, use the random number generator.
