Pick a number 1 to 10 with one tap. Each number has the same 1 in 10 chance, the odds of a ten-sided die. People are less even: asked for a number like this, they are widely reported to lean toward 7. Use a pick as the secret in a guessing game or as a d10 roll.

"I am thinking of a number" is fairer when nobody is thinking. Press once, hide the screen and let the others guess. With higher or lower hints, four guesses are always enough: open with 5 or 6, then halve what is left each time.
The ten-sided die behind the odds
A d10 is the only shape in a standard role-playing set that is not a regular solid. Its ten faces are kites meeting at two sharp points, often with the odd numbers round one point and the evens round the other. The faces usually run 0 to 9, with the 0 read as 10: tap '0 to 9' to see the die as printed. A second d10 marked 00 to 90 makes a percentile roll: see pick a number 1-100.
Tips
- Bowling pins are numbered 1 to 10. The head pin is 1, and the 7 and 10 are the back corners, one of the hardest splits to pick up.
- Tap '0 to 9' for one random digit: four presses make a game code such as 0471. For games only, never a real PIN.
- Four of the ten numbers are prime: 2, 3, 5 and 7. Call "prime" before you press and you are right 40% of the time.

Is the number already on screen random?
Yes. A fresh number is drawn as the page opens, so the one you see is yours, not the same for every visitor. Each is made in your browser and ignores the draws before it: fine for games and quick decisions, not for prize draws.
Why do so many people pick 7?
Nobody chooses evenly. A 1976 paper by Kubovy and Psotka on 'the predominance of seven' is often cited for the finding that people asked for a single digit favor 7. Tell a friend 'give me a random number between 1 and 10' and you get a habit, not a draw. Here 7 gets the same 10% as 1 or 10.
Can I get a random number 1 to 10 for ten people at once?
