Random Style Generator: 100 Fashion Styles With Three Key Pieces
One press draws five fashion styles from 100, each with the three pieces that define it and a badge for the decade it began, as a list or on a wheel.
Random Style Generator: 100 Fashion Styles With Three Key Pieces: how it works
Each card in this random style generator is one of 100 fashion styles and internet aesthetics, from Preppy to Visual kei, with the three pieces that define it and a badge for the decade it began. Tap Music scenes or another chip, pick a decade, or switch to Wheel and spin.
A style is a wardrobe, a theme is one night
An outfit theme is a dress code for one party. A style is how someone dresses every week, so each card lists clothes you could own. The fan-run Aesthetics Wiki indexes more than 1,100 names, and many are moods with no wardrobe. This list keeps 100 whose pages name real garments, and 31 of them began in the 2010s or 2020s.
Most styles answer an older one
Teddy boy suits began as a flop. After the war London tailors cut Edwardian-style jackets for officers leaving the services, the officers passed, and working-class teenagers took up the unsold stock. Zazou jackets hung to the knee while cloth was rationed in wartime France, and the waste was the protest. Scene grew out of emo, whose first look was clean-cut geek chic. Gorpcore was named in 2017 after normcore and gorp, the hikers' word for trail mix.
Tips
Closet challenge: draw 1 and build the look from clothes you already own. Two of three pieces counts as a win.
As a style randomizer for character design, draw 3 and keep the one that fits the job least. A lumberjack librarian is easy to remember.
For a decades party, set the decade to 1970s, switch to Wheel and give each guest one spin. The three pieces on the card are the shopping list.
Questions and answers
What is the difference between a style and an aesthetic?
On this page, not much. Aesthetic is the wider word: online it covers rooms, photo edits and music as well as clothes. A style here is an aesthetic you can wear, so every card lists garments, fabrics or colors instead of a mood.
Does it work as an aesthetic randomizer for art prompts?
Yes. The chips Internet-era looks and Soft and storybook hold the names that spread online, such as Cottagecore, Kidcore and Goblincore. Draw 1 for a prompt or 10 for a sketch page. The three pieces tell you what to draw even when the name is new.
Why does the Emo card say 1980s?
The badge is the decade a style began, not when it peaked. Emo started in 1980s hardcore, but the skinny jeans and side-swept bangs most people picture are mid-2000s, so the card says both. Sixteen cards, mostly older looks such as Dandy and Western, carry no badge and drop out when you pick a decade.

How this list was compiled: Style names chosen from the Aesthetics Wiki index at https://aesthetics.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Aesthetics . The pieces, colors, decade and place on every card were checked against that style's own Aesthetics Wiki page, and 21 cards were checked a second time against the English Wikipedia article for the style (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preppy , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zazou and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_Boys ), checked 2026-09-18.
