A black dragon name generator, a red one and six more
Choose a color and only its names come up. Black holds names that hiss, such as Vashkarr and Umbrathax; Red holds names that roar, such as Pyrrhaxis and Kaldrusk. Blue, Green, White, Gold, Silver and Bronze work the same way.
What was screened out
Each name was checked against Wikipedia's lists of dragons in myth, books, films and games, from Smaug and Alduin to Drogon and Deathwing, and against place names, a dictionary and every Wikipedia title. Five were dropped for hiding a rude word.
Questions and answers
Does it work as a red dragon name generator?
Yes. Choose Red for 18 names built on hard, fiery sounds, such as Ignavorr and Charrakesh. The page opens with that chip set if you link to it with #red at the end of the address.
How do I name my own dragon?
Start from its color or element, then pick an ending: a hard one such as -rax, -oth or -karr for a fierce dragon, a softer one such as -a or -elle for a gentler one. Say it aloud; a dragon's name gets shouted.
Can I use these dragon names in my book or game?
Yes, they are free to use. The screening cannot be complete, and trade marks were not searched, so search a name before you publish it.
