    This random superhero name generator joins one of 12 titles to one of 20 power words and 21 role words, for 5,040 hero names. Each word's line is in the lists below.

    Build the name from the power

    The power word sets the element: Frost and Glacier for ice, Blaze and Ember for fire, Volt and Photon for energy. The role word says what the hero does: guard protects, runner has speed, fist has strength. Lock the power that fits and press until the role does too.

    What was screened out

    Every power-and-role word was checked against Marvel, DC and other superhero lists. Thunderbolt and Stormwatch were taken, so Thunder and Storm went, and watch went because it spelled a rude word across the join.

    • Making a team? Lock the role word, such as guard, and give each hero a different power.

    Can I use it as a random superhero generator for a story?

    It names the hero and hints at the power. For the power itself, the superpower page draws one, and the villain page names someone to fight.

    Does it work as a random hero name generator for girls?

    Yes. Lady and Miss are female titles, and every other title except Mister suits any hero, as in Agent Auroraheart or Kid Zephyrkite.

    Is my superhero name already taken?

    None of these matched a Marvel, DC, Power Rangers or Wikipedia name we searched, but those lists are not complete and trade marks were not searched, so search a name before you publish it.

Every one of the 420 power-and-role words the two rows can spell was screened by script on 2026-09-23: against every English Wikipedia page title and its plural, the words of 27 Wikipedia lists of Marvel, DC, Archie, Valiant, My Hero Academia, One-Punch Man, The Boys, Invincible, Power Rangers and other superhero characters, exact page titles on marvel.fandom.com, dc.fandom.com, powerrangers.fandom.com, transformers.fandom.com, imagecomics.fandom.com, myheroacademia.fandom.com and invincible.fandom.com, GeoNames cities15000, a US English dictionary, every list on this site, and a rude-word list read across the join (https://github.com/LDNOOBW/List-of-Dirty-Naughty-Obscene-and-Otherwise-Bad-Words). A first set of 26 power words and 24 role words hit 35 times (Thunderbolt, Stormwatch, Stormwing and Echostar among them), so Storm, Solar, Comet, Echo, Pulse and Thunder and the role words wave, watch and ward went.
