Choose a species first. A brown bear has a hump of muscle on its shoulders and wide paws built for digging: Shovel Paw. The Inuit call the polar bear nanook. The sun bear is named for the orange to cream patch on its chest: Sun Patch.

Björn is Swedish, from the Old Norse word for bear. Ursula is Latin, built on ursa, she-bear. Arthur is probably from the Welsh arth. Each card says what the name's dictionary entry says.

What names mean bear?
Björn, Bjarne, Ursula, Bernard, Dov, Otso and Mathúin all go back to a word for bear. Björn is Swedish, Dov is from Hebrew, Otso is from a Finnish poetic name for a bear and Mathúin is Irish.
What do you name a bear cub?
