Random Date Idea Generator: Dates With a Cost and a Rain Plan: how it works
This random date idea generator picks one date for two: Stargaze from a blanket, Fold dumplings together, Watch a movie in sync. Each card opens with its cost, from Free to high, and outdoor ideas end with a rain plan, or a no-snow plan in winter. All 328 ideas are original.
Three rows: setting, occasion and cost
Setting: At home 103, Outdoors 111, Rainy day 168. For: First date 63, Long-distance 54. Cost for two, a label on each card: Free 128 means nothing to buy if you own the basics, Low 128 is under about $25, Medium 57 is $25 to $75 and High 15 is more. Prices differ by town, so treat the band as a guide. Stack all three: Free plus Rainy day plus First date leaves 10. The printed list further down files each idea under the first chip it fits, so Rainy day there shows 25 of its 168.
What counts as a first date idea here
All 63 First date ideas happen in public, with other people around and an easy way to leave: a coffee and a walk, a bookstore, a busy market. Nothing under that chip puts two strangers in a private room or on an empty trail. Meet at the place, and tell a friend where and when. No idea on the list needs alcohol.
Tips
Set the rows before you press: Rainy day when it pours, Free near the end of the month.
Set the size to 3, lock the one you both like and reroll the other two.
Cannot agree? One of you presses, and the other gets a single swap.

How this list was compiled: Written for this site: every one of the 328 date ideas and every how-to line is our own wording, and no list was copied. Each line opens with a cost band for two people, and the bands are our own: Free means nothing to buy if you already own the basics, low is under about $25, medium is about $25 to $75 and high is more than $75. Prices differ by town, so treat a band as a guide and check the venue before you go. Every idea under open sky ends with a rain plan, and the winter ideas give a no-snow plan. The Rainy day chip holds ideas that happen in person and under a roof. Safety screen: no alcohol, gambling, dieting, cold water, breath-holding, heights, trespass, pranks or viral stunts, and nothing sexual. First date ideas are public places with other people around and an easy way to leave. One dated fact was checked on 2026-09-18, the Perseid meteor shower peaking in mid-August with the hours before dawn the busiest, against https://science.nasa.gov/solar-system/meteors-meteorites/perseids/. No other line states a date, price or rule that changes from year to year. Licence: own work
