Name the cafe, then choose the kind
Press New cafe. Tap a part to lock it, then press again. Lock a first word you like, such as Sparrow, and reroll the second until the place sounds the right size: a Nook is a hidden table or two, a Depot is an old bus or train building.
What each word and kind says
Every word has a line in the lists under the tool on the mood it sets. Every kind of cafe has a line too, checked against its Wikipedia article: a kissaten is a Japanese-style tearoom that is also a coffee shop.

How do you come up with a cafe name?
Join one word for the mood to one word for the seat, the cup or the spot: Lantern Nook, Honey Bench, Tuesday Counter. The lists under the tool say what each word suggests.
Can I use one of these names for a real cafe?
They are written for stories, games and maps. Each two-word name was searched as a Wikipedia page title and in its list of coffeehouse chains, but this page cannot tell whether a name is in use or free to trade under.
What kinds of cafe are there?
The list has 16, each with a line: coffeehouse, espresso bar, teahouse, tea room, kissaten, bubble tea shop, sidewalk cafe, cat cafe, internet cafe, manga cafe, board game cafe and more.
What is the difference between a cafe and a coffeehouse?
In everyday English, none: Wikipedia defines a coffeehouse, coffee shop or cafe as one thing, an establishment that serves coffee drinks. A teahouse primarily serves tea and light refreshments.

How this list was compiled: Our own list of 46 first words from the cup, the morning, the pantry and the room, each with our own line on the mood it sets, written on 2026-10-02. Every two-word name the first two rows can spell was searched that day as an exact English Wikipedia page title, with and without "The", and as a phrase in Wikipedia's list of coffeehouse chains, its list of bakery cafes and its list of restaurant chains in the United States; of 2,132 names, 35 had a match, and the word behind each was cut (Brew, Cup, Lane, Leaf, Moth, Pot, Press, Quiet, Rainy, Room, Steam, Sunday, Velvet).
