Before you use a name
A name can pass every check here and still be taken in your town. Search it online, in your state's business register and in the USPTO trademark database, and check that the web address is free.
Questions and answers
Are these random restaurant names already taken?
Some may be. Every pair was checked against Wikipedia titles and lists of restaurant chains and well-known restaurants, and four words that clashed were dropped, but small local restaurants are not on those lists.
What makes a good restaurant name?
One that is short, easy to say and spell, and hints at the food. A name that tells people what you serve, such as Tamarind Kitchen, needs less explaining on the sign than one that tells them nothing.
Can I use a name from this page for my business?
Yes, at no charge: the names are not registered to anyone by us. A check on this page is not a legal search, so search the name where you trade before you print a sign.

How this list was compiled: Own list of 39 first words, each with the kind of food or room it suggests. Every one of the 975 names the two rows can spell was checked by script on 2026-09-23, with and without "The" in front, against every English Wikipedia page title and against the full text of 39 English Wikipedia lists of restaurant chains and well-known restaurants (chains in the United States and Australia, fast food, casual dining, pizza, coffeehouse, bakery-cafe, burger, chicken, seafood, barbecue, Michelin three-star, steakhouse, diner, delicatessen and theme restaurants, and restaurants in London, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia and Boston, among others), and for rude words (the LDNOOBW English list, https://github.com/LDNOOBW/List-of-Dirty-Naughty-Obscene-and-Otherwise-Bad-Words). Amber Room, Driftwood Room, Harbor House, Juniper House, Sage House, Tide Table and Linen Company were among the hits, so House, Room, Tide and Linen were dropped. Small local restaurants are not on those lists, and trade marks were not searched: a name that passed here can still be in use where you are. Licence: Own work.
