    How it works

This bakery name generator joins two baking words into a name for a bakery in a story, a game or a town map, then adds a real kind of bakery. It cannot tell whether a name is already in use.

Every word comes off the bench

The first word is something a baker makes or uses: a dough word, a grain, something sweet or a shape of loaf. The second is a room, a tool or a container. Press New bakery, tap a part to lock it, and press again.

The meanings are under the tool

Each word has its meaning in the lists, checked against a dictionary entry. A poolish is a mixture of flour and water with a little yeast. A peel is the pole with a flat disc that takes loaves out of the oven.

    Tips
    • Match the name to the kind: a grain word for a bake shop, a sweet word for a patisserie.

    Questions and answers

How do you name a bakery in a story?

Use the words of the trade. Join something a baker makes or uses to a room, a tool or a container: Crumb Larder, Rye Hearth, Custard Bench. The lists under the tool give the meaning of every word.

A bakery makes and sells flour-based goods baked in an oven, such as bread, cakes and pastries. A patisserie is a type of bakery that specializes in sweet baked goods and desserts. The kinds list has a line for each.

Can I use one of these names for a real bakery?

They are written for stories, games and maps. Each two-word name was searched as a Wikipedia page title and in its lists of bakeries, but this page cannot tell whether a name is in use or free to trade under.

The line on each gives one meaning of the word, in our wording, checked on 2026-10-02 against its English Wiktionary entry. Every two-word name the first two rows can spell was searched that day as an exact English Wikipedia page title, with and without "The", and as a phrase in Wikipedia's lists of bakeries, bakery cafes, doughnut shops and restaurant chains in the United States; of 1,287 names, 2 had a match, and the word behind each was cut (Malt, Tray).
