These ch tongue twisters are 36 lines written for this site, in four chips: ch at the start of a word, in the middle, at the end, and beside j, the sound it is closest to.

A true ch, every time
Ch is a quick stop, like t, released into sh. Words where ch says k, as in school, or sh, as in chef, are kept out of these lines. In the middle chip the sound also hides in tch and in ture, as in "The furniture's future was nature's adventure."
Ch against j
J is the same mouth shape as ch with the voice on, so the two slide into each other at speed. The last chip mixes them, as in "Jade chose a jar of cherry jam." Say it slowly and feel the buzz on each j and none on each ch.

What are good ch tongue twisters?
Lines that stack the sound in one place. For the start, try "Chilly children chase the chirping chickadee." For the end, try "Munch, crunch, punch, then a hunch." Each of the four chips holds nine lines.
What is the difference between ch and sh?
Ch starts with a stop, like a t, and sh does not: chip and ship, chop and shop. Lines that mix the two are on the sh tongue twisters page, under the sh and ch chip.
Can a child practise ch with these?
Yes, for a sound the child can already say in single words; the lines give practice, not teaching. If you are worried about how a child says ch, ask a speech-language pathologist.
