    Cleric Name of the day

    How it works

This cleric name generator names a priest of an invented faith for a game or a story: a rank that the list explains, a made-up name and an epithet for what the temple looks after.

    Read the full guide

A priest name generator in three parts

Press New cleric name. Lock the epithet and keep pressing to fill one temple, from Acolyte to High Priest. The epithets come from six domains: dawn and light, harvest, tides, the forge, rest and remembrance, and roads.

    What the ranks mean

Each rank is a plain English word, and the list under the tool gives its dictionary meaning. An almoner gives out alms. A cantor leads the singing at a ceremony. A hierophant interprets sacred mysteries.

    • No god is named, so a domain such as tides can belong to any deity you invent.

    Questions and answers

What are good fantasy cleric names?

A rank, a name and what the temple tends read well together, such as Almoner Pethren of the Lantern Road or Seer Farrimon of the Kindled Wick. The rank says where the cleric stands in the temple, and the epithet says which domain it serves.

Is this a clergy name generator for a real religion?

No. The ranks are common English words with their dictionary meanings, and the domains are things, such as tides or harvest, not deities. No god, saint or order of a real faith is named.

Can I use it as a female healer name generator?

Yes. The made-up names are not marked for men or women, so any of them suits the healer of a party. Lock the rank on High Priestess, Seer or Almoner and press for names.

How this list was compiled: 25 ranks and offices, each a common English noun. Each line follows a sense given in its English Wiktionary entry, read on 2026-10-02 and again on 2026-10-03 (https://en.wiktionary.org/, CC BY-SA 4.0). The wording is ours. Offices that belong to one living faith (abbot, prior, canon, deacon, friar, vicar) are left out, and so are Brother and Sister, because the name row is dealt blind. How this list was compiled: Our own list of 55 epithets in six domains, written on 2026-10-02. A domain is a thing a temple looks after (light, harvest, tides, the forge, rest, roads) and never a god: no deity, saint or order of a real faith is named. Checked by script against every list on this site and the page titles of 16 fantasy fan wikis. 13 candidates were cut (12 on another list of this site; 1 a real place), among them of the First Light, of the Nine Lamps, of the Last Harvest, of the Shared Loaf, of the Threshing Floor, of the Ebb Tide. Read again on 2026-10-03: 3 epithets that had come to stand on a later list of this site were cut and 5 new ones written. Licence: own work
