Name one faction or both sides
Press New faction name. Tap a part to lock it, then press again. Lock the creed and press for the rival groups that all claim it. The names fit any world, so the page works as a fantasy faction name generator and as a space faction name generator.
Creeds and colors
A faction is defined by what it wants, so every result carries a creed in one sentence. The colors are a pair for a banner or a map key. The list under the tool gives the hex code of each color.
Tips
Give two factions the same body word, such as Pact, and they read as one side that split.
Use the two hex codes to color the faction's territory on a map.
Questions and answers
What makes a good faction name?
Two words: a body word that says how the group is organized, such as Concord, Pact or Assembly, and a first word that sets its tone. A name like the Brass Concord tells a reader what kind of side it is.
Can I use this as a political name generator for a made-up party?
Yes, for fiction. The body words include Assembly, Coalition, Bloc and Congress, and each creed is one aim in one sentence. No real party, movement or ideology is named.
How do I use the banner colors?
Each pair is two named web colors with their hex codes, such as Crimson #DC143C and Gold #FFD700. Type the codes into a map or drawing tool to color a banner, a border or a map key.
Are these names from a game, a book or history?
No. Every first word with every body word was searched as a Wikipedia page title, with and without The, and on fan wikis of games and fiction. Words behind a hit were cut. Search a name before you publish it.
How this list was compiled: Our own list of 35 first words, written on 2026-10-02. Every name the First word and Body rows can spell was screened by script that day, and a word behind a hit was cut: exact page titles on English Wikipedia, with and without "The"; every page title of 16 fantasy fan wikis; and exact page titles on 8 more fan wikis of games and fiction (forgottenrealms.fandom.com, elderscrolls.fandom.com, wowpedia.fandom.com, pathfinder.fandom.com, starwars.fandom.com, memory-alpha.fandom.com, warhammer40k.fandom.com, masseffect.fandom.com), and then on pathfinderwiki.com and marvel.fandom.com. Compass points and plain color words were left out from the start, because with these body words they spell real movements. 34 candidates were cut (18 a Wikipedia page title; 16 a fan wiki page title, or the short name of a body in a comic), among them Iron, Bronze, Steel, Obsidian, Flint, Ivory, Lantern. No list of history or fiction is complete, so search a name before you publish it. Licence: own work

How this list was compiled: Our own list of 31 two-color pairs for a banner, each with our own line and the two hex codes. Every color is a CSS named color; names and hex values were read from the named color table of the W3C CSS Color Module Level 4, https://www.w3.org/TR/css-color-4/#named-colors, on 2026-10-02. The contrast figure kept with each pair is the contrast ratio of the two colors, worked out with the relative luminance formula in WCAG 2.2, https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/#dfn-contrast-ratio; every pair is 3 to 1 or better. No pair repeats a pair on the mascot page of this site. Licence: own work
