How it works
This doctor name generator makes up a doctor for a story, a game or a play hospital: a first name, a real surname and a medical specialty. Every result is fictional, and no real doctor is listed.

Name the doctor, then the ward
Press New doctor name. Lock the specialty to staff one department, or lock a surname for a family of doctors. The list under the tool says in one line what each specialist looks after: a nephrologist, the kidneys.
The surnames are real
One group of surnames suits a doctor a little too well, such as Payne, Bones or Fix. Each is a real last name, and its line gives its rank in the 2020 Census of the United States.
Questions and answers
Are these real doctors?
No. A first name, a surname and a specialty are put together at random, and pairs that are the title of a Wikipedia page were cut. A real doctor may still share a name, but no result describes any real person.
What are funny doctor names?
Real surnames that fit the job: Dr. Payne, Dr. Bones, Dr. Fix, Dr. Cure. All are in the United States census file of last names, and the page gives the rank of each.
What do the specialties mean?
Each names a kind of doctor by what they look after. A cardiologist looks after the heart, a dermatologist the skin and a pediatrician infants, children and adolescents. Nothing here is medical advice.
Can I use a name in a book or a game?
Yes. The page is made for stories, tabletop games and pretend hospitals. Search the full name first if the character does something a real doctor of that name would mind.
