Glam Rock Name of the day

    How it works

This glam rock name generator pairs a short, bright first name with a surname from the costume box, the stage or the sky, as in Kiki Mirrorball. Each surname has a line below saying what the word is.

    Press, then keep one half

Press New glam rock name. Tap the first name or the surname to keep it or change it, so Kiki can try Mirrorball, Supernova and Topaz in turn.

    Four kinds of surname

The stage, its lights and fireworks (Mirrorball), cloth, feathers and jewelry (Tiara), gemstones (Topaz) and sky and space (Supernova). Glitter belongs to the genre, and Wikipedia's article on it lists science fiction among its sources.

    Tips
    • Two words is the shape. If the surname has four syllables, keep the first name to one.

    Questions and answers

    What is glam rock?

A style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s. It was defined mainly by the hairstyles, makeup and flamboyant clothing of its musicians, particularly platform shoes and glitter, Wikipedia's article on the genre says.

How do you make a glam rock name?

Here, with two words: a short first name that sounds like a nickname and a surname borrowed from the costume box, the stage or the sky. Kiki Mirrorball and Dex Supernova are both the page's own.

Are these real glam rock stars' names?

No real performer's name was found. Each pair was searched in the full text of English Wikipedia, and a word was dropped wherever a pair named a musician, another person or a character. Check a name before using it: no search sees everyone.

    What do the surnames mean?

Each is an ordinary word, and the list under the tool gives its meaning in one line, checked in Wiktionary: a mirrorball is a mirrored ball that casts spots of light across a room, and a supernova is the explosion of a massive star.

How this list was compiled: Our own list of 54 words from the costume box, the stage and the sky, used as surnames. The line on each says what the word is, checked on 2026-10-03 by script against the word's own entry in the English Wiktionary, en.wiktionary.org (CC BY-SA 4.0; the wording is ours; the line for Mirrorball follows the entries mirror ball and disco ball); a word whose entry did not bear the line out was left off. That day every first name and surname pair was also searched as a phrase in the full text of English Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/, CC BY-SA 4.0) and looked up as a page title, and a word was cut wherever a pair turned out to be the name of a performer, another person or a character. 24 candidates were left off after the checks. Wikipedia does not list everyone, so a pair can still be a name somebody performs under. Licence: own work
