Magic Item Shop Generator

One press opens a magic shop: its sign, its keeper, three things on sale today and the house rule.

The Bell and Button, kept by a cheerful witch who cannot keep a secret. On the shelf: a bead that glows when you are lost, six coppers; a ladle that never spills, two silver. Behind the counter: a tame storm on a leash, for your calmest afternoon. House rule: buy two, and the third hides.

Padlock: keep a part. Arrows: change only that part.

    Magic Shop of the day

    How it works

This magic item shop generator stocks a made-up shop for a game or a story: a sign, a keeper, a cheap charm, a useful item, one rare thing priced in something other than coin, and a house rule.

    Read the full guide

    Restock the same shop

Press New magic shop. Tap the sign and the keeper to lock them, then press again: the same shop has new stock, as it would on a second visit. Lock the rare item to keep it behind the counter until someone pays.

    What the prices mean

Small charms cost coppers or chores and useful items cost silver. The rare thing is never sold for money: the keeper wants a true name, a year of Tuesdays or a lullaby. No item, price list or rarity word of any game is used.

    Questions and answers

Is this also a magic item shop name generator?

Yes, and a magic shop name generator too. The first part of every result is the name on the sign, such as The Patient Cauldron or Wishes Weighed Here. Tap it to lock a name you like, then keep pressing for the rest.

What items are in a magic shop?

On this page, three a visit: a small charm such as a button that never comes off, two coppers; a useful item such as a rope that ties itself, three silver; and one rare thing behind the counter. Nothing is a weapon.

How is this different from a random magic item?

The random magic item generator builds one item with its power, its price and its past. This page stocks a whole shop: three things for sale today, each with what it costs, and a rule such as no refunds after moonrise.

Are the items from a game?

No. Every line was written for this page and checked against the other lists on this site. The shop names were also searched on Wikipedia and on fantasy fan wikis; search a name before you publish it.
