How it works

Why random Jersey cities need the townships
Four of the eight places with 100,000 people or more are townships: Lakewood, Edison, Woodbridge and Toms River. A list of cities alone would miss them, so each card says what kind of place it is. The only villages on the cards are Ridgewood, Ridgefield Park and Loch Arbour.
Staying in one county
All 21 counties are in the dropdown. Bergen County has 70 municipalities, the most, and Hudson and Mercer Counties have 12 each. Names repeat from county to county, so a card can read Washington Township (Morris County): the state has five Washington Townships and a Washington Borough.
- Gloucester, a township of 67,085 people, is in Camden County, not Gloucester County, and Warren Township is in Somerset County.
