What do you eat with samosas?

A samosa is a fried pastry with a savoury filling, most often spiced potatoes, onions and peas. It is served hot and is often accompanied by chutney. As samosa chaat it is broken into pieces and topped with green and sweet chutneys, with onion, hot spices and a dash of yogurt.

What to eat samosas with for a full meal

On its own a samosa is a snack. For a meal, break it open and ladle a curry over it: chickpea curry, or ragda, a light stew of dried white peas. Then add something cold or raw, such as sweetened yogurt, chopped onion or pomegranate seeds, so the plate is not all fried.

  • Serve the samosas hot and the chutneys cold.
  • Pour curry or yogurt over a samosa only when it is about to be eaten, or the pastry goes soft.
