Random Car Generator With the Years Each Car Was Built: how it works
This random car generator draws from 382 real production cars, from the Citroën 2CV to the Lamborghini Countach, and prints each one's type, home country and the years it was built. Narrow the draw to hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, pickups, sports cars, supercars, electric cars or classics. Lock the cars you like, swap the rest, save favorites and share a link to the same set.
Draw, lock and swap
Five cars are on the page when it opens. Press New cars or the space bar for five more, or change the size to 1, 10 or 20. The padlock holds a car in place while the others change, and the swap arrows replace just that one. No car comes back until you have seen every car that passes your chip, and a counter shows how far through you are. The heart keeps a car on your saved list for your next visit.
Eight chips, from city cars to supercars
The chips sort the list by what a car is for: city cars and hatchbacks, sedans and wagons, SUVs and crossovers, pickups and vans, sports cars and coupes, supercars, electric cars and classics. A car can sit under two chips, so an electric SUV shows up under both. Classics has one plain rule: the last one left the factory in 2006 or earlier. Where the years come from
Each line was checked on 18 September 2026 against that model's Wikipedia article and written in our own words. Most make and model names were also matched against the US road safety agency's vehicle list. Car names return after a break, so some cards say so. Where the sources disagreed about whether a recent model is still in production, the card says only when it was introduced. Prices, power figures and sales ranks are left out because they change every year.
Tips
- Stuck on what to draw or model? Set the size to 1, press once and sketch whatever comes up. The years on the card tell you which shape of that car to look for.
- For a garage game, draw 10, lock three and defend your three-car garage to your friends: one for every day, one for the weekend, one for the long trip.
- Writers can use it as a car randomizer for characters. Choose the Classics chip for a story set before 2006, and let the car say something about who drives it.
- In a racing or driving game with a big car list, let the draw decide what everyone drives this round. Reroll if the game does not have it.
- The car of the day is the same for every visitor and changes at midnight. Guess the decade before you read the card and keep a streak going.

How many cars are in the list?
There are 382 cars from 99 makes. By chip: 70 city cars and hatchbacks, 81 sedans and wagons, 86 SUVs and crossovers, 29 pickups and vans, 88 sports cars and coupes, 41 supercars, 40 electric cars and 94 classics. Some cars sit under two chips, which is why those numbers add up to more than 382.
Can it just give me a random car, one at a time?
Yes. Set the size to 1 and every press answers 'give me a random car' with a single name in large type and one line about it. Choose a chip first if you only want a certain kind. Every car that passes the chip has the same chance, and none repeats until you have seen them all.
How do I pick a random car I could buy today?
The list mixes cars on sale now with cars that ended decades ago, so read the card. 'Built since' means the model was still in production when we checked. A card with two years means it has ended, though used ones may be easy to find. To pick a random car from the past only, use the Classics chip.
Are the cars real?
Every one is a real car that was built and sold, a few of them as racing cars. There are no concept cars and no film or game cars. The list covers makers from Japan, Germany, the United States, Italy, Britain, France, Sweden, South Korea, China and more, from economy cars to cars built in the hundreds.
Is this site connected to any car maker?
No. Make and model names are used only to identify the cars, and the page shows no logos or badges. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any car maker. If you spot a wrong year, tell us through the contact page and we will check it and fix the card.
