Every county has a city on the cards, and three have exactly one: Fairfield in Camas County, Emmett in Gem County and Malad City in Oneida County. Kootenai County has 14, the most. The four largest cities are all in Ada and Canyon Counties.
Boise is not in Boise County
Boise, the capital, is in Ada County. Boise County has four small cities, and its seat is Idaho City, with 531 people. Three more names mislead: Shoshone is in Lincoln County, Kootenai in Bonner County and Teton in Fremont County.
- Star, in Ada County, gained more than 9,000 people between 2020 and 2025 and now has 20,874.
- Meridian gained more than 23,000 people in the same years, the most of any Idaho city.
