A random city in Oregon, county by county
Crook County has exactly one city, Prineville, while 19 cards go under Marion County, the most. Portland reaches into three counties, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas. Salem's card says mostly in Marion County, because part of the capital lies in Polk County.
Three names that point to the wrong county
Jefferson is in Marion County, not Jefferson County. Wasco is in Sherman County and Wheeler in Tillamook County. Hood River, Umatilla, Tillamook, Union, Yamhill and Wallowa are each in the county of the same name.
- Bend gained more than 7,600 people between 2020 and 2025, the most of any Oregon city, while Portland lost more than 17,000.
- Lakeview, which the Census file calls a town, bills itself as the Tallest Town in Oregon for its elevation.

Oregon has 241 incorporated cities, and 240 have a figure in the 2025 estimates and a card. Greenhorn, an old gold-mining city on the line of Baker and Grant Counties, had three residents at the 2020 census and has no estimate.
What is the difference between a city and a town in Oregon?
Oregon lists every incorporated place as a city, whatever its size. The Census file still names nine of them towns, Canyon City and Butte Falls among them, and the cards keep its word.
What is the smallest city in Oregon?
Among cities with a 2025 estimate, Lonerock in Gilliam County, with 24 people. Granite in Grant County has 29 and Shaniko in Wasco County 31.
What are the largest cities in Oregon?
Portland, with 635,109 people, then Salem, the capital, with 181,779, Eugene with 178,618, Gresham with 111,513 and Hillsboro with 111,126. Bend, sixth, also has more than 100,000.
