How this list was compiled: The 590 incorporated cities and towns of Oklahoma that have residents in the estimates, each with the county that holds most of its people, its population and its place among the 590. Figures are the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 City and Town Population Totals, the estimates for 1 July 2025 (https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/popest/datasets/2020-2025/cities/totals/sub-est2025.csv, read 2026-10-08). A place is called a city or a town as that file names it. Places with the same estimate share the higher rank. A card says "mostly in" where under 95 in 100 of the people live in the county named. The file has a 591st row, Mule Barn in Pawnee County, with no residents; the Oklahoma Historical Society gives its corporate status as 1985 to 2008 (https://www.okhistory.org/publications/enc/entry?entry=OA005), so it has no card. Wikipedia's list of Oklahoma municipalities counts 597: it has Mule Barn and seven small towns with no row in the file (Capron, Cowlington, Erin Springs, Hoot Owl, New Woodville, Oak Grove and Smithville), which have no card, and it lacks Hochatown, incorporated in November 2022, which has one. That list, its rule on cities and towns and Hochatown's incorporation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hochatown,_Oklahoma) were read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_municipalities_in_Oklahoma and the state capital checked against https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_capitals_in_the_United_States the same day.
