Figures are the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 City and Town Population Totals, the estimates for 1 July 2025 (https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/popest/datasets/2020-2025/cities/totals/sub-est2025.csv, read 2026-10-09). The cities are the file's incorporated places of that kind and the towns its active county subdivisions; every municipality lies in one county. Not on the list: the 29 incorporated villages in the file, each of which is part of a town that has a card, and the five unorganized towns and four gores and grants, which have no local government. Four names belong to a city and to a separate town (Barre, Newport, Rutland, St. Albans); each card carries its kind. Places with the same estimate share the higher rank.
