Random Puns, Riddles, Facts and Quotes: One Short Read at a Time

Each page in this set holds one kind of short read: a fact, a pun, a riddle, a psalm, a quotation, a kind line to say to someone, a line to say to yourself, a comic excuse. Press the button and one comes up, short enough to read aloud in one breath. None of these pages writes new text. Each is a fixed list that a person wrote or chose and then checked, and you can read the whole list at the bottom of its page. Each fact names the body it was read from, such as NASA, NOAA or the National Park Service. The riddles are traditional ones, reworded, with the answer under a cover. The psalms use the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. The quotations come from works published before 1931 and name the work and the year. The compliments, affirmations and excuses were written for this site. Chips narrow a draw by topic, and the pick of the day is the same for everyone.
