The dropdown under the button keeps one band of the count: ranks 1 to 10, 11 to 50, 51 to 100 or 101 to 200. The list under the tool prints all 200 from A to Ž, each with its rank.
Slovenian endings
Under More filters, Ending keeps the 35 names in -ič (Kovačič, Zupančič), the 18 in -nik (Potočnik, Kotnik), the 24 in -ar (Mlakar, Hribar), the 10 in -ec (Korošec), the 3 in -šek (Gajšek, Podgoršek, Zakrajšek) or the 21 in -ić, the spelling of neighboring languages, as in Kovačević.
Tips
34 cards carry a meaning; the others give the rank and the number alone.
Names with the same number of people share a rank, as Krasniqi and Petrič do at 36.

How this list was compiled
The 200 most common family names of Slovenia in the 2026 column of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia's open tables 'Family names, Slovenia, annually' (four tables, A to F, G to L, M to R and S to Ž, in the SiStat database, https://pxweb.stat.si/SiStat/en; read 3 October 2026), each with the rank and the number of people the office gives. Source: SURS. The office lets its data be used freely when it is named as the source (https://www.stat.si/StatWeb/en/StaticPages/Index/Copyright, read the same day). The rule is the office's rank and nothing else: every name ranked 1 to 200 is here, in the office's spelling, whatever language it comes from, so the list also holds names in -ić and other names that came to Slovenia with people from elsewhere; names with the same number share a rank. A meaning is printed on 34 cards only: where the name's Slovene entry in English Wiktionary gives an etymology with a gloss (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:Slovene_surnames, CC BY-SA 4.0), in our short wording, or where the Slovenia table of English Wikipedia's 'List of most common surnames in European countries' glosses it (quoted as the table's gloss). The other cards carry the count alone; one dictionary gloss that is an unkind word was not printed. A meaning is what a dictionary or encyclopedia records for the surname in general, not for any one family. The sorting by ending is by spelling alone. Counted on 3 October 2026, by spelling with accents ignored: 56 of 200 names (28.0 in 100) also stand in another list of this site; 37 on the Croatian list. The list is fixed by the office's ranks, so no name was taken off for that. Licence: Ranks and numbers: Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS), free to use with the source named.
