How it works
This fantasy clan name generator joins two halves into the name of a kin group, such as Ashencrest, then gives the clan a totem, land and an old feud. A clan is born into, not joined.

One clan, then its rivals
Press New clan. Tap a part to lock it, then press again. Lock the feud and press for the clan on the other side of it. Lock the first half for branches of one family: Ashencrest, Ashenstride, Ashenhowl.
An elf clan name generator in the same rows
The first halves come in five groups: storm, beast, ash and ember, river, and a softer group of leaf and dew (Willow, Alder, Lark, Rowan). For an elf clan, lock a half from that last group and reroll the ending.
Questions and answers
What makes a good fantasy clan name?
Two short words joined, one from the clan's world and one for what it does or leaves behind: Ashencrest, Stagmane, Fordstride. A whole family wears the name, so it helps if it is easy to shout across a valley.
What is the difference between a clan and a guild or an order?
A clan is kin: its members are born into it and share a name, a totem and land. A guild or an order is joined. For those, use the fantasy organization name generator.
Where can I find fantasy clan name ideas for a whole map?
Under the tool. Both halves are listed in full, in groups, with the totems, lands and feuds below them. Pick a group for each region: river halves for the lowlands, storm halves for the coast.
Are these clan names from a game or a book?
Not on purpose. Every join was searched in a dictionary, on Wikipedia and in the page titles of fantasy fan wikis, and the half behind a match was cut. Storm, Moon, Wolf and Ember went that way. Search a name before you publish it.
