How it works
Retro wedding colors borrow the look of a past decade. The schemes for each decade follow what a named source says it used, and each swatch gives its hex codes.

Where each decade gets its colors
Art Deco flourished in the 1920s and early 1930s; one of its jewellers set silver against black lacquer and gold against lapis lazuli, and others used coral, emeralds and rubies. Interior design of the 1940s and 1950s used pastels. The poster art of the late 1960s used bright, highly contrasting colors. Avocado green, harvest gold and burnt orange were common on household goods of the 1970s. Sepia is the brown now associated with antique photographs.
